An effective CV has a clear logical sequence:

1.State your full name and professional goal: this is the position you are applying for. If the position has several responsibilities, add them to the main goal - do not be lazy if you choose a resume for a specific vacancy. 


2.Write about your work experience: list your previous jobs in reverse chronological order. For each job, indicate the name of the company, position and period of work.


3.Add information about your education: list your educational institutions and in reverse chronological order. For each of them, indicate the name, speciality and period of study.


4. Describe your professional skills: This way, the employer will understand what you will bring to them. Do not forget about "search engine optimisation" - keywords that meet the requirements of the vacancy.





5. It will be useful to provide some interesting additional information: achievements, certificates, awards, volunteering, etc. Be sure to add your hobbies to this column if, for example, you like to play football and you know that the company's employees gather for friendly matches on Saturdays.


6.Provide contact information: phone number, email address. Links to social media profiles deserve special attention. Some other companies also check their candidates to learn more about the person who can become part of their team. So, to avoid being searched for, make it easier for recruiters by providing the necessary link yourself. But be careful: it's better that your profiles don't contain anything unnecessary that the employer might not like.


7.Add your photo to your CV: This is an impossible chance for a competitive advantage. Such a document will become personalised and therefore look more professional. All things being equal, the visible appeal of life can make all the difference. You'll have a chance to be more memorable to the recruiter, and perhaps they'll choose you over others. Adding a photo is especially important if the job is related to communication with customers, such as an online sales job, or a teacher/tutor. We advise you to add a high quality, business-style photo where your face has a positive expression, indicating friendliness and openness. 


Tips for designing and writing a CV

  • The font should be simple and readable, for example: Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman.

  • Use a font size of 10-12.

  • Don't experiment, it's better to have a white background and black font than vice versa. Perhaps, in some proteins at the end of the black (or multi-coloured) and send a positive impression of the user, but, thus, will have the opposite effect.

  • Use active verbs (e.g. "developed", "organised", "achieved").

  • Write specifically and concisely.

What not to do when writing a CV

  • Provide false information. This is immediately obvious to experienced recruiters. And even if the process doesn't convince them when they review your CV, it may come out during the interview or at work. As a result, you'll add up to wasted time, a bad reputation, and disappointment.

  • Grammatical and spelling errors.About 50% of recruiters reject a candidate if they notice them in a resume.

  • Too much work experience. An effective resume should instantly attract attention and not tire you out. If you have a lot of experience in many companies, you don't need to rewrite your entire work history in your CV. Try to tell about yourself concisely but accurately.
